8 TPH Biomass Reciprocating Grate Steam Boiler in Kenya

An agricultural and food-processing customer in Kenya needed continuous process steam, a way to use locally available biomass, and a complete system addressing fuel handling, pressure fluctuations and smoke and dust. JINHONG supplied one DZH8-1.25-SCI steam boiler rated at 8 TPH and 1.25 MPa, with hydraulic feeding, a hydraulic reciprocating grate and matched auxiliary equipment. JINHONG engineers handled installation, commissioning and training on site. The project entered production in 2026.

Customer Requirements

Continuous steam with a practical local biomass supply route

The customer required a steam system for agricultural processing and food manufacturing. Continuous steam supply was the central production requirement, while pressure fluctuations were an issue the new project needed to address.

Fuel selection was another important part of the decision. The customer wanted to use locally available biomass, with wood chips, firewood, biomass pellets and agricultural residues included in the specified fuel options. Fuel adaptability and the feeding arrangement therefore mattered alongside the boiler’s rated steam capacity.

The customer also required smoke and dust handling as part of the boiler package. The scope needed to bring together the boiler, water-side equipment, combustion-air equipment, flue-gas equipment and on-site engineering services.

JINHONG Solution

Hydraulic feeding and a reciprocating grate within a complete steam package

JINHONG supplied the DZH8-1.25-SCI with a front fuel hopper, hydraulically operated feeding and a hydraulically driven reciprocating grate. This project configuration addresses fuel introduction and fuel-bed movement together, rather than treating the boiler body as a stand-alone supply item.

The boiler uses a horizontal single-drum water/fire-tube structure. The supplied system also includes water treatment, a feedwater tank and pump, an economizer, forced- and induced-draft fans, dust collection, flue ducts, a chimney and an electrical control cabinet. JINHONG’s on-site work connected the equipment supply with installation, commissioning and operator training.

Continuous process steam

One steam boiler rated at 8 TPH and 1.25 MPa, supplied with the associated feedwater and auxiliary equipment.

Local fuel use and adaptability

The specified biomass options are paired with hydraulic feeding and a reciprocating-grate configuration.

Pressure-fluctuation requirements

The package includes controls and on-site commissioning to coordinate the boiler and auxiliaries with the steam-supply requirements.

Smoke and dust handling

Dust collection, induced draft, flue ducts and a chimney are included in JINHONG’s equipment supply.

Supply & Engineering Services

Complete equipment supply with JINHONG engineers on site

JINHONG was responsible for the complete boiler package and provided on-site installation, commissioning and training. The equipment scope covered the main boiler and the systems needed to connect water supply, biomass combustion and flue-gas handling.

  • Boiler and fuel handling: DZH steam boiler, front hopper, hydraulic feeding equipment and hydraulic reciprocating grate.
  • Feedwater equipment: water treatment, feedwater tank and feedwater pump. See our boiler feedwater and water treatment guide for related planning considerations.
  • Air and flue-gas equipment: forced-draft fan, induced-draft fan, economizer, dust collector, flue ducts and chimney.
  • Controls and services: electrical control cabinet, on-site installation, commissioning and operator training by JINHONG engineers.

Project Outcome

In production in Kenya

The project entered production in 2026. JINHONG’s delivered scope combines the 8 TPH biomass steam boiler, hydraulic feeding and reciprocating grate, the specified auxiliary equipment, and on-site installation, commissioning and training.

This case brings the customer’s steam-supply, fuel-handling and smoke-and-dust requirements into one equipment-and-service package for agricultural and food processing.

Planning a biomass steam boiler project?

Tell JINHONG your required steam capacity and pressure, available biomass fuels, fuel size and moisture information, daily operating pattern and site-service needs. These inputs help define the boiler, feeding, grate and auxiliary-equipment scope for your application.
